A center-back/left-back who joined Maccabi Haifa in August 2017 and was signed for five years.
Gershon, with dozens of appearances for the Israeli national team, holds an unprecedented "achievement" in Israeli football. Before arriving in the city of Carmel at the age of 29, he had not yet made an official appearance in the Israeli Premier League.
He grew up in the youth department of Hapoel Rishon LeZion, played for its senior team, and helped it to be promoted to the Premier League. He was then loaned to the Belgian team Standard Liège. In 2010, he was loaned to another Belgian team, Kortrijk, and his third stop in Europe was the Scottish team Celtic, with whom he won the championship in the 2012/2013 season.
At the end of the season, he returned to Standard Liège and was sold to Waasland-Beveren, which then sold him to Gent, both from the Belgian first league. He played for Gent for three years and, together with his teammates, won the club's historic championship in the 2014/2015 season.
As mentioned, Gershon has appearances for Israel's under-21 national team, from which he advanced to the senior national team.
