Maccabi Haifa's youth department has long been considered the flagship of youth departments in Israel, mainly due to its financial investment, facilities, and the quality of players it produces. Many of them find their way to the senior team's squad, while others fill key positions in other top leagues.
Since its establishment in 50's, the department has undergone significant transformations, particularly in the club's philosophy, which prioritizes preparing a solid foundation for the senior team. In the past, players from the central region were, to say the least, not enthusiastic about coming to play for Maccabi Haifa. However, since the club was acquired by President Jaacob Shahar (1992), there has been a significant change in this regard as well.
In the last three decades, graduates of the Green youth department have become some of the best Israeli footballers. Some have broken boundaries abroad, while others have starred on the local scene, including Eyal Berkovich, Reuven Atar, Arik Benado, Marco Balbul, Nir Davidovich, Yaniv Katan, Tomer Hemed, Lior Refaelov, Eden Ben Basat, Biram Kayal, Taleb Tawatha, Dekel Keinan, Maor Buzaglo, and many more. Maccabi Haifa Football Club has always advocated for integrating youth department graduates into the senior team. Prominent players finishing their youth age are included in the squad, with relevant examples seen in the 2019/20 season, such as Neta Lavi (team captain), Ayed Habshi (vice-captain), Sintayehu Sallalich, Raz Meir, Ofri Arad, and others.
And of course, the breakthroughs in the 2023/24 season of Anan Khalaili, Ilay Hajaj, Feingold, Hamza Shibli, Suf Podgoureanu, Shareef Keouf, and others.
