A tall Croatian defender (195 cm) who joined Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2023 at the age of 27.

Born in Split, he joined the academy of the local team from which he advanced to all of his country's youth national teams. Before making appearances for the senior team, he was loaned to the Ukrainian team Hoverla. He returned to Hajduk Split, and during the January 2017 transfer window, he was sold to Sampdoria at the age of 20.

From the Italian Serie A team, he was loaned to Empoli, which had been relegated from Serie A. He was part of the Croatian U-21 national team squad. During the season, he was loaned to SPAL from Serie A, but a persistent injury hindered his progress.

After the injury, he was loaned to Rijeka without playing and then continued his journey to Slovak side DAC Dunajská Streda. In the summer of 2020, Sampdoria decided to end the loans and sold him to Polish team Zagłębie Lubin. He returned to Italy again, this time to Lecce, which acquired him in January 2022 and promoted to Serie A. Šimić remained in Serie B with Ascoli, where he became a key player in their defense.

From there, he was sold to the Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa, after the Swedish defender Daniel Sundgren received Israeli citizenship due to his Jewish partner.
