Sundgren began his career in the lower leagues of his country and even when he left it for Greece. In 2015, he played for the Swedish team AIK Solna in Allsvenskan. In 2019, he signed with the Greek team Aris Thessaloniki and was also part of the Swedish national team squad, making his debut, his only appearance, in a 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan.
