A 30-year-old winger who joined Maccabi Haifa, Kenji was born in the Netherlands to a Surinamese father and a mother from Curaçao — an island country in the southern Caribbean Sea, off the coast of Venezuela. He spent several years in the youth academies of English clubs Manchester City, Manchester United, and Swansea.
His unique eligibility — having studied in England for five years before the age of 18 — allowed him to choose whether to represent England, the Netherlands, or Curaçao. He opted for the latter and went on to score three goals for the national team.
Kenji’s professional career has spanned Swansea (England), ADO Den Haag (Netherlands), Northampton Town (England), and several Portuguese clubs including Nacional Madeira, Estoril, and Boavista. A turning point came when he joined Qatar’s top division with Umm Salal, where he scored twelve goals — the highest single-season tally of his career.
